INSPECTION & PRODUCTION RECORDS

Quality Documentation for Custom Manufactured Parts

Define the inspection records, material evidence and production documents your project requires before quotation. Mockup aligns the documentation scope with the drawing, critical features, production process, order stage and customer acceptance requirements.

DRAWING-DEFINEDPROJECT-SPECIFICAGREED BEFORE RELEASE
01 / DIMENSIONAL INSPECTION

Inspection evidence matched to the features that control acceptance.

Dimensional records can be planned around drawing dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, threads, bores, mating interfaces and other critical characteristics. The measurement method and reporting depth depend on feature geometry, tolerance, accessibility, quantity and the agreed sampling plan.

STANDARD INSPECTION

Production verification

Visual and dimensional checks appropriate to the process and part requirements, recorded according to the agreed project scope.

DIMENSIONAL REPORT

Recorded measurement results

Selected drawing characteristics documented with nominal values, tolerances, measured results and acceptance status.

CMM DATA

Complex feature measurement

Coordinate measurement may be used for profiles, positions, datum-related features and geometry that cannot be verified reliably with hand instruments.

02 / MATERIAL EVIDENCE

Material records tied to the ordered grade and source.

When required, material certificates or supplier records can be requested for the specific alloy, resin, temper or product form. State the exact certificate, traceability and regulatory expectations in the RFQ so availability and cost can be confirmed before order release.

03 / FINISH DOCUMENTATION

Surface treatment requirements documented before finishing.

Define coating type, color, gloss or texture, thickness, masking, cosmetic zones and relevant acceptance criteria. Depending on the process and supplier documentation available, finish records or certificates may be included in the agreed quality package.

04 / FIRST ARTICLE & APPROVAL

Use first-article evidence to confirm the production route.

A first-article inspection package can help verify that the manufacturing process, drawing interpretation and measurement plan produce an acceptable result before repeat production. The required format, ballooned drawing, measured characteristics and approval sequence should be defined during quotation.

05 / RFQ PREPARATION

State the required records in the RFQ—not after the parts are made.

Include the controlled drawing revision, critical characteristics, inspection level, sampling requirement, certificate type, traceability expectation and any customer-specific template. Requirements added after production begins may require a process change, new inspection work or remanufacture.
