Machinable metals for precision custom parts.
Common CNC machining options include aluminum, stainless steel, mild and tool steels, titanium, brass, bronze and copper. Grade, temper and stock condition affect machinability, dimensional stability, corrosion performance, strength, finishing response and cost.
Lightweight and versatile
Commonly used for housings, brackets, fixtures, robotics structures, aerospace components and appearance parts. Specify the exact alloy and temper when strength, conductivity or anodizing response matters.
Strength and wear resistance
Suitable for shafts, tooling, structural parts, food or medical equipment, and components exposed to load, heat or corrosion. Heat treatment and passivation requirements should be defined early.
Specialized performance
Titanium supports high strength-to-weight applications. Brass, bronze and copper are selected for conductivity, bearing behavior, corrosion resistance or appearance.
Engineering plastics machined without dedicated tooling.
ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, acetal, PEEK, PTFE and acrylic can be CNC machined for prototypes, fixtures and production components. Moisture absorption, thermal expansion, internal stress and required surface appearance should be considered when tolerances are assigned.
Production polymers selected around function and processing.
Injection molding materials may include ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PP, PE, PA, POM, TPE, TPU and application-specific engineering resins. The final choice should consider stiffness, impact, temperature, chemical exposure, color, texture, flame rating, shrinkage and expected production volume.
Sheet and plate selected for forming, joining and finishing.
Aluminum, stainless steel, cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, copper and brass are common choices for enclosures, brackets, panels and welded assemblies. Alloy, thickness, grain direction, bend radius, hardware installation and coating requirements are reviewed together.
Resins, nylons and metals for visual and functional builds.
SLA resins support detailed visual models and smooth surfaces. SLS and MJF nylons support durable functional parts. Metal additive processes support complex, high-value geometries when conventional machining is not the best starting route.
Choose the material from the requirement—not the label alone.
Share the operating load, temperature, chemical exposure, regulatory needs, cosmetic surfaces, mating features and target quantity. Mockup will review the requested grade against the process, stock form, tolerance, finish and inspection requirements before quotation.
